Ruins of the Old City, Game 2

In the last game, we saw a daring strike against the lizard men. Now, the Baron and Sir Edric (having recovered from his wounds) must hold off a counter-attack by the lizards.

Taking a play out of the lizard folk handbook, Baron Mordain and a pair of archers are set on crossing the river and taking the tower as a vantage point to rain down bodkins upon the filthy creatures.

One of the archers is able to make it up the tower—not pictured was the two trips across the river, during which the fist archer was accosted and reportedly torn limb from limb…

Meanwhile, at the bridge, Sir Edric’s infantry have been worn thin, but the small contingent of archers thin the horde attempting to cross the river!

The men-folk take the day, holding the river and harming the monsters’ morale in this area.

This game was a wee bit less climactic, and I forgot to take as many pictures as I would’ve liked—I only realized I hadn’t documented the drama with the boat once it had resolved! After the first game, I rolled to see which wounded figures survived to defend the bridge…and only one failed the roll! The bows were very deadly, and I’m working on tweaking the rules. I’m thinking ammunition as I’ve seen in a few other games. And perhaps polearms will strike before hand weapons. We’ll see.

  1. Good conclusion to the fight - you know you're enjoying the game when you forget to document it.
