A top down view of today’s micro-field. Brown Avenue, at one of its ends by the West gate of town. From each edge of the street, the local troops patrol to keep the peace. What they don’t see is what you, the reader, can. In several of the buildings, lying in wait, is an ambush organized by the Infamous Sir Red Plume (better names forthcoming). Crossbows and spears must take the street and await the arrival of Lady Mauve and her escort. Their goal, assassinate the lady and whoever else they can!
To the left of the field are the blue turn countdown until the Lady arrives (top) and initiative (bottom; black for locals, grey for ambushers).
A street view as Henry begins his patrol. He and the other spearman will be quickly dispatched, leaving only the patrolling longbowman from the South road.
The ambush is sprung as Lady Mauve enters the town with her escorts: Sir Gawain, Sir Owen Green, and Sir Jacques Le Bleu. The Lance , the Lady, and the Longbow are brought down instantly by the honorless knaves who attacked without warning!
Sir Owen falls back south, while Sir Jacques does the same north, both finding succor from missile attacks behind the walls of the houses. Sir Owen is beset by a small train of foes. Sir Jacques Le Bleu is waiting to attack the other foes as the round the corner.
Sir Jacques is unfortunately felled, and so Sir Owen Green is left alone to battle his way through these godless curs and find vengeance! He succeeds, against all odds, chasing them as they try to escape down s back alley. Brown Avenue runs red this day. But who will answer for this outrage?! Searching the bodies, Sir Owen finds colors representing Sir Red Plume and his apparent associate, Sir Vernor Bend!
To be continued…maybe.
Fighting in narrows streets is an interesting idea - nice figures too.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I like city fights, and I tried to make this one as small and close quarters as possible. It’s definitely not an every game thing, but it’s fun!
DeleteInteresting game as MJT has said. I like the roofless buildings showing where folk are hiding, very effective. The photo at figures eye level is a fun thing to do also.
ReplyDeleteI often use my phone as a kind of “line-of-sight periscope” in hard to bend places, and so I’ve started taking pictures because I think it’s a neat effect!
DeleteWell done, looking forward to the next installment.
