I set up a game tonight only to find the inspiration and figures lacking.
Another view, lighting was poor so it was difficult to get a clear shot of the figures. The village looks really nice though!
I want to finish painting up my 15mm peasants for the project so I can have some random figures populating my village. Regarding as the lack of individually based figures, I’ll just use single stand (2-4 figure) units probably.
I painted up a 28mm scale dwarf that my brother-in-law 3D printed me!
While I like modest and practical adventurers, dwarves like gold. And what better for a dwarven shield-brother than a gilded shield? You can see some of the print lines on this figure, but that’s ok!
I’ve also started working on my 20mm 17th century figures, currently 3 musketeers and a pike man. I’m hoping they’ll go well with the block buildings as well, even if they are a tad “over-sized” for the houses.
I’m currently looking into resin casting kits to reproduce some old plastic army men that no one makes any more (namely one figure pose, I’ve got a handful from childhood but want more to game with/paint).
Apologies for the poor format of this post, I just wanted to keep an update log going with the projects. I’m very out of sorts tonight in the blogosphere!
I looked into a local video game arcade last week and found that they still have green army men as a prize for the tickets. On the other hand, that was the first arcade I'd seen in decades...
ReplyDeleteI'm also doing some 17th Century - English Civil War Paperboys in under 15mm scale. Handguns aren't popular in most fantasy RPGs (with Warhammer a prominent exception) but I'm happy to include them. Size doesn't matter that much; in my experience most terrain and vehicles work on a slightly smaller scale to the figures. It's the look of the thing that counts, and your medieval village has its charms!
I love arcades, and I ALWAYS grab army men when they have them (I win a lot of tickets, my kids appreciate too little). I’m alright with handguns in my games, I just don’t tend to include them because minis with them are usually sold separately from the pack I buy!
DeleteMissed this one - looks like a nice little table-top RPG / Quest going on!
