"Retinue" aka Free Rules!

I had a few ideas that I jotted down and took the time to format into a small rules pamphlet. The game is, hopefully, simple and easy to run. Retinue is focused on small unit actions centered around the lance fournie (equipped lance) of the Middle Ages. There is no fancy cover art, for now, these are still slightly in progress. Also, please do tell if the link does not work, it is my first time posting to blogger.

RETINUE

Thanks for checking it out, please try them out, and suggestions are welcome! Retinue is sure to have updates, especially regarding campaign options and a possible point buy system for troops. Hopefully I'll get a battle report out soon, as well.

  1. Here's an idea for magic weapons and armor in keeping with the lovely simplicity of your rules. A figure armed with a magic weapon is allowed one re-roll on a failed attack roll. Magic armor forces a re-roll if a hit is scored.

    Thanks for posting these!

    1. That’s a great idea, and I love the possibility of expanding these rules toward the fantastical! Re-rolls are smart with regards to keeping the amount of dice needed to a minimum (which is something I’ve often considered after a friend made a snide remark about the world’s most famous rpg many years ago). Thank you for your encouraging comment!

    2. You're very welcome! You're ideas are very refreshing ! One does not need a complicated set of rules for a good game. I've been a fan of simple rules for a long time now. Keep up the good work.
