I finished the ruined Noble’s house I’ve been working on. It took me a bit to get more glue, then I had to find the right paint for it. But it’s finished!
Below are some WIP photos:
A nice view of the interior, featuring Stan the Crossbowman for reference again.
The second story is actually a thick cardboard Christmas decoration, or rather, a section thereof.
Broken roof beams and makeshift ladders allow scaling of the building’s levels.
You can see here the other half of the second story in the background. I turned it into a tiny dollhouse for my middle child (complete with tiny dolls)!
A front view with Stan on the castellated tower.
The view through the doorway.
“Don’t worry, it’s not loaded!” -Stan
After mixing the my ivory textured paint with my “wine” red paint, I found that it turned a very vibrant—“old lady” pink? It reminds me of the Madonna Inn’s steakhouse in San Luis Obispo, and my grandmother (a southern belle who loves pink, rose, and red as her palette). The second layer looked more like lipstick, but less pink.
Still looking a vibrant wine…
The roof and tower painted, and some dry brushing. It has to be dirty, after all!
Designer’s note: painting the interior before adding details would’ve been helpful. Painting before assembling might have been smart.
Finally, here we see the building as the centerpiece of a 5”x8” battlefield where I play tested some skirmish rules I’m writing! The battle ended with two men being partially blinded, one man losing an arm, and the last being robbed of all his belongings. Not a good run for any of them, but I’m sure things will be better next time! Maybe.
This is awesome! But the 5x8" battlefield is particularly intriguing. I'd be interested to see those rules.
ReplyDeleteThe rules are actually aimed at my usual coffee tray size board, but I was just trying to test out the math so I used that little 5x8” one. However, I’ve been stewing on your comment, and I have now started scribbling some ideas for a 5x8 size skirmish game. I wonder how my wife will feel when I steal one of those little trays and cover it in wood, paint, and milliputt! Lol
