A Tale of Two Lances Pt. 2

Continued from the previous post.

Felstadt, Sir Reginald II’s most faithful Yeoman, enters the sanctuary...

And finds it empty!

Reginald slays the other cart-loader while Percy makes a break for the ruins.

More bad luck for both Yeomen! Felstadt enters an empty courtyard, while Pierre-Antoine finds himself recoiled into the river trying to avoid the arrows of Reggie’s archers!

As Reginald hastens to the ruins, Sir Percy finds Eldrina and assaults her guardians. Reggie rushes forward, and a lot of hits that cause recoiling ensue!

An aerial view of the chaos.

Sir Reginald’s archers take control of the ox-cart as it may prove useful and they don’t want to risk hitting their lord by firing into the messy melee in the ruins.

I got too caught up in the final rolls to take pictures of the battle in the ruins. Eldrina made a break for it while Pierre-Antoine was killed, and Felstadt and Reginald battled Percy. Eventually, they overcame him, loaded their quarry in the cart, and rode off into the sunset.

It was a really fun play test of Retinue, and I saw what I needed to add. Reggie made it off the field with a crushing victory and didn’t lose a single man in the process. My wife suggested making a grid on the cork-board so that I didn’t have to use a ruler—she walked in while I was having a particularly rough time trying not to knock down trees (and failing).
