I played a game a couple of days ago that saw a troll hunting peasants in a frosty forest, and a levy hunting party trying to save them!
This picture was taken after the first couple of turns when the action began. The troll made it to the peasants’ ox-cart, and began happily gorging himself. Meanwhile, Mordain (from the last game) and his levy hunting party made way as quickly as they could, attempting to set up good shots.
After a three turns gorging himself, the troll moved into the ruins for the peasants themselves! The levy archers couldn’t line up a single shot, so the troll entered the ruins unscathed. Fortunately, the first peasant did not die in vain, and sank his dagger into the troll before he was slain!
The levy failed to arrive in time, due to bad initiative rolls, and so they hear the horror of the troll eating those they were trying to save.
They resolve to not waste any more time or risk any more failures of this sort in the future. Planting themselves dangerously close to the tower ruins, they wait for the troll to emerge, and loose arrow after arrow. Sheer statistics meant that one would sink, bringing down the great and terrible creature.
Now the men must prepare a funeral pyre, and report to Sir Reginald II a failure to save the peasantry, but a success in slaying a threat to the region.
Looks like it was a great game, glad to see you playing and posting again.
