I’ve placed an order with Scale Creep miniatures for some new 15’s to bolster the forces. I was also able to paint up my remaining spears to complete a two-stand unit, and get another Knight painted up for a second heavy cavalry unit!
A second stand of knights ready for battle!
I had to get a couple of testers in with the new spears last night.
I also got to try out the bridge I’m painting up for my terrain aspect of the project. It worked out very nicely.
This project has established itself as centered around a general timeframe of the Crusades to the First Barons’ War. The 11th-13th centuries are probably one of my favorites to read about, and if I focus my efforts to the range of 1150-1250, I should be able to game with decent variety for a low “footprint” in terms of cost, storage, and setup. Especially if I get some Saracens or the like, and maybe a sandy piece of fabric (although I am distinctly aware that sand is not the only ground you’ll find in the Middle East).
For now, however, Baron’s War is the theme, if only in spirit and not historicity. I have enjoyed watching the Footsore Miniatures range grow and the Baron’s War game, but I cannot afford such investments!
Great to see your project has some momentum - wish I could say the same about one of mine!!
