My assistant and expert scale consultant, Stan the Crossbow Man.
I started building terrain again after a fortuitous sale on balsa wood at the hobby shop.
I started by trying to build a town square for my tiny city. That creature in the center of the square is my attempt at drawing the German eagle, or at least the prototype used by Henry VI:
(Source: Wikipedia, of course!)
The finished product looks a bit rough, and is a bit large for my 15mm figures, but it’s more of a “proof of concept” than anything else.
I also started work on a large, scratch-built nobleman’s house. The goal is to have a large ruined house with at least two floors and a castellated tower on one corner.
I really tried to focus on the structural integrity, as I’m working with Balsa.
I got discouraged with building the roof and upper level at about 11:30pm, and out of boredom and exhaustion set a slice of a cardboard Christmas decoration on top…
And it locked in place perfectly, even prior to glue! So I glued the section on and started scheming about my next steps with the structure.
I’ve tested out the concept of etching stones in a sheet of foam, but on this piece I decided to be even more direct and, given the softness of the wood, gently etch in the stone pattern for the tower. This stuff is softer than a bar of soap!
Unfortunately, construction has ground to a stiff halt, as I ran out of glue!!! More to follow when I get resupplied.
